The disconnection of the fifth power unit of the ZPE was due to continuous shelling of the Russians - Energoatom

The unit # 5 of the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP was disconnected because of continuous shelling of the Russians. The 6th unit is still working now, Energoatom reports. "On the evening of September 3, 2022, after shelling by Russian invaders of the Zaporizhzhya NPP lines with the energy system of Ukraine and because of insufficient capacity of the latter, backup, line at 19:35 units of the NPP NEC .

Video of the day at the state-owned enterprise said that the 6th power unit is currently in the work, which with limited capacity through the backup line supplies electricity to the power system of Ukraine, and also provides its own needs of Zaporizhzhya NPP. Earlier, observers of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which are at the ZPP, reported that the station was again disconnected from the network and stopped one of the existing reactors (No. 5).

At the same time, the IAEA did not specify the reason for the shutdown. Observers also informed that the other reactor (No. 6) is still working, the supply of electricity is carried out to the power system of Ukraine through a backup transmission line. The same reserve line can meet the internal needs of the NPP, noted in the IAEA. Previously, the unit No. 5 of the Zaporizhzhya NPP was disconnected on September 1 as a result of another mortar shelling by Russian occupation troops of the ZPP.

The next day, the unit was again connected to the power system. On September 1, despite the obstacles from the Russian invaders, the IAEA delegation of 14 experts visited the Zaporizhzhya NPP in the temporarily occupied energy. The visit was due to constant shelling of the ZPP by Russian invaders. Specialists led by CEO Director Rafael Grossi spent several hours in the territory.

There are six representatives of the mission at the station, then two will remain in the framework of a permanent presence at the ZPP. Energoatom noted that the Russians are making every effort to prevent the MAIA mission from getting acquainted with the real situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky also stated that Russia has done many cynical things to deceive the IAEA.
