Zelensky signed a law on the right to demobilization: who can be released from the army

In Ukraine, the list of citizens who are entitled to early demobilization during martial law has expanded. On Tuesday, July 18, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a bill that envisages expanding the list of categories of citizens who may be dismissed from military service during martial law. This is stated on the official government portal.

According to the law, the additional basis of the army during martial law is the presence of close relatives who died or missing, while ensuring national security and defense, repeling and deterring armed aggression against Ukraine. The authors of the document clarify that close relatives include husband, wife, son, daughter, father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, as well as relatives (full, minor) brothers and sisters. 26 of the Law "On Military Duty and Military Service", Ukrainian servicemen can terminate the contract in the following cases ahead of time: Recall that on March 28, the text of the bill, which offers the right to demobilization after 18 months of service, was published on March 28. The bill also proposes to impose a default from a conscription for five years for those who have been demobilized and have served the maximum period of conscription during mobilization.
