The T-90M tank was presented in the Russian Federation with extended characteristics: what was improved (video)

One of the key improvements of the "breakthrough" was additional dynamic protection modules, which now completely close the caterpillars, the lower frontal part and the back of the tank body. The Russian enterprise "Uralvagonzavod", which is part of the corporation "Rostek", demonstrated an advanced version of the T-90m Tank "Breakthrough". The developers emphasized the increased mobility and speed of the machine compared to the previous models.

The demonstrative video was posted on November 1 on YouTube. The T-90M, developed by the Ural Design Bureau of Transport Mechanical Engineering as part of Uralvagonzavod, is the most perfect model of the T-90 series, designed for modern war. It has complex protection, a modern automated fire control system and measures to increase survivability.

Evaluating the demonstration video, Western experts noted that the T-90M was finalized taking into account the experience of real fighting, in particular in Ukraine. Improvement contains additional dynamic protection of caterpillars, lower frontal part and back of the tank. The location of these protective elements, especially on the roof, is carefully optimized.

"Significant modernization is the replacement of dynamic armor in less protected parts of the tank on a module in stronger buildings, which increases the survivability of the T-90m in battle," experts say. At the same time, despite the improved characteristics, the T-90M inherited the vulnerable place of construction, characteristic of many Russian tanks: ammunition storage under the tower.

This means that hitting the less armored upper part of the tank can lead to a detonation of the ammunition, which threatens the complete destruction of the tank and crew. "It is obvious that the latest T-90M modifications influenced the course of war in Ukraine. The strengthening of the tower is undoubtedly a response to the problem of drones that are widely used during the conflict," experts said.
