General Igor Gorgan regularly reported on the visits of representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine who were engaged in the purchase of equipment and shells for the Armed Forces. The former head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Moldova, Igor Gorgan, actively cooperated with the reconnaissance of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the Russian edition of The Insider.

According to journalists, Gorgan was talking to Telegram with a curator from the game Colonel Alexei Makarov. He regularly reported on the internal political situation in Moldova, and also conveyed data on the visits of representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine engaged in the purchase of equipment and shells for the Armed Forces. The material states that the GRU was particularly interested in which weapons Kiev purchases in neighboring countries, in particular in Moldova.

It is reported that Gorgan worked in the General Staff until the end of 2021. Then President May Sandu resigned him. Nevertheless, the general has many supporters in the Ministry of Defense of Moldova, who provided him with secret data. He also contacted various places on the ground. However, in July 2023, Gorgan stopped communicating and settling in the UN representation for refugees in Chisinau. This agency is recorded by all refugees from Ukraine, helps them with a new place.

Later, the information that Gorgan worked with the special services of the Russian Federation was confirmed in the Moldovan Information and Security Service (SIB) in a commentary on TVR Moldova. Representatives of the SIB stated that they have information that indicates the unprecedented level of intensity of actions of the Russian Federation aimed at keeping Moldova in their sphere of influence.

In addition, Gorgan's activities as an agent of the special services of the Russian Federation in Telegram were also confirmed by the head of the Presidential Administration of Moldova Adrian Bellutsel. According to him, criminals such as Gorgan contribute to the emergence of hybrid threats to the state. "That is why we need effective tools to combat betrayal," he wrote.

The official also recalled that Sandu removed Gorgan from his post in 2021 and added that he would be deprived of military rank and state awards by Meritul Militar ("For Military Merit") and Credințtem patriei ("Faithfulness of the Fatherland"), which he received in 2006 and in 2006 and 2015, respectively.
