EW systems specialist Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov drew attention to a new type of weapon that appeared in the Russian Armed Forces. Poltava was recently attacked with it, he wrote in his Telegram channel. As the expert noted, what distinguishes the weapon from the KAB is that it resembles a factory-built cruise missile.

This model is called UMPB-5. Serhii writes that Ukrainian experts do not know detailed information about UMPB-5. The missile is compared to the UMPB D-30SN, but Besrestnov considers this not entirely correct. The thing is that "no one has seen or studied the UMPB-5 in its entirety," he emphasized. Only one thing is known for sure - the diameter of the product is 30 cm.

According to "Flash" data, the UMPB is dropped from a height of more than 10 km, but it can fly further than the KAB, as it has an internal engine at its disposal. The distance reaches a maximum of 200 km. The weight of the combat unit is about 100 kg, Serhii wrote. He also said that anti-aircraft drones will not be able to cope with such a missile due to its high flight speed.

Regarding the suppression with the help of EW systems, nothing can be said, "because we do not understand what type of receiving navigation system is installed there," the publication says. Beskrestnov drew the attention of the Ukrainian military to the fact that the Russian Armed Forces have "another similar product with a range of up to 200 km — the Grom-E1 based on the Kh-38 missile.
