Ukraine did not receive weapons from the US Land League: the Foreign Ministry called the reason

Kyiv receives defense assistance from Washington and NATO partners for free under three programs. Land League provides for the departure of American weapons on rent or leasing. The US did not use the Lend League mechanism to transfer military assistance to Ukraine. Weapons are under other programs, said Oleg Nikolenko, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in Hromadske. The Land League principle is to transfer American weapons on rent or leasing.

The advantages of Land League, according to the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry, are the speed of decision-making by the US Presidential Administration without unnecessary bureaucracy and the need to vote for each package in Congress. However, the volume of weapons supply in the case of Land League is directly dependent on Ukraine's financial capabilities. At this stage of the war, the United States provides Ukraine with military assistance at the expense of its budget.

"The insufficient amount of assistance to Ukraine or its inefficiency will have fatal consequences for the entire free democratic world," he stressed. According to Nikolenko, within the framework of the US law on additional appropriations, Ukraine receives defense assistance on a free basis on three programs: all these programs do not require financial return from Ukraine.

The American side, as the diplomat noted, initiated the creation of a contact group on defense of Ukraine, which is attended by 50 countries. "Joint diplomatic efforts have managed to mobilize Ukraine from NATO and other weapons for $ 40 billion," Nikolenko said. Of this amount, over $ 19. 3 billion came from the United States. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, together with other government agencies, work to receive help from allies to better protect against threats from the air, he said.

Recall that US President Joe Biden signed the Land League program for Ukraine on May 9. Presidential Office Advisor Alexei Arestovich spoke about the first supply of weapons for Land League in 2-3 weeks. In August, the White House stated that the supply of American weapons to Ukraine is underway for programs that do not require money. Russian State Duma deputy Andriy Gurulev had previously complained about the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine.
