The management of the Kalashnikov concern states that the designers have completed hostilities in Ukraine to make the weapon convenient, reliable and ergonomic. On December 25, the President of the Kalashnikov Concern said that the company had launched a modernized AK-12 machine in the series, and in January 2024 the first supply will begin. About it reports TASS.

"We have worked it very seriously with the customer on the requirements that arose during a special military operation, we were tested and launched it in a series. That is, it is already in the stream, this year was launched. And in January we will already start shipment of new AK-12 , - he said in an interview with a Russian TV channel. Lushnikov added that modernization was generally carried out to create a weapon that will be convenient, reliable and ergonomic.

The first experimental sample AK-12 presented the concern in 2011. The machine gun was arrived in 2018, then mass production was launched. After the start of a full -scale war in Ukraine, some disadvantages of the machine gun in the conditions of real intense fighting were manifested. According to Defense Express experts, the invaders, in particular, complained about the lack of staff mufflers due to specific mounting. Therefore, it was difficult to get the original muffler from Kalanshikov.

The CEO of the Concern Volodymyr Lepin in the summer of 2022 announced the modernization of the AK-12, taking into account the experience of hostilities in Ukraine. Among the changes is the refusal of the cut mode of two shots, as it has not led to a significant increase in efficiency, but complicates the design. Also considered the option of placing the regulator of the firing mode on both sides.
