Reparations from the Russian Federation: Hague will create a register of damage caused to Ukraine

"The Russian invasion of Ukraine has caused enormous destruction, and claims for damages can be filed this year in a new organization created in the Hague. The Cabinet gave consent to it," the message reads.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Vopke Gucstra, noted that the UN has given approval to document all the extent of losses for further demand for reparations from the Russian Federation. According to him, many schools, hospitals, homes, roads and other infrastructure have been broken in Ukraine, which is why the losses are calculated by hundreds of billions.
The diplomat added that the Ukrainian government asked the Netherlands to create such a body, taking into account the reputation of the country, to which the authorities gave their consent. "It is necessary to do everything possible to obtain compensation for damage. The head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak said that the Netherlands government approved a very important decision to location in the Hague of the International Register of Damage.
"It is the first component of the compensation mechanism to make Russia pay for everything. The offender will be punished and pay for every crime," Yermak stressed.
