Not to repeat the mistakes as with Russia: Germany should reduce China's dependence - Scholtz

The German chancellor is convinced that Germany and the West countries should get an energy -dependent lesson and diversify their economies. German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholtz, speaking at the Economic Forum in Berlin, pointed to the prospects of overcoming the energy crisis in Europe. In particular, he noted that it is necessary to strive to reduce EU dependence on China and not to repeat the mistakes that were with Russia.

This is stated in the material of the German edition of Süddeutsche Zeitung. At the beginning of the speech, Scholz made it clear that happy times when Europeans and North America could enjoy the best of all economic conditions. Stable growth, low inflation and high employment in the past, since the Russian-Ukrainian war and the consequences of the pandemic are reflected in key economic indicators.

At the same time, in the Asian region, in particular in China, Indonesia and Vietnam, there is a significant economic growth - billion people have climbed to the middle class with appropriate purchasing power. According to Scholz, this is one of the deep causes of inflation. "Delobalization is a dangerous false path. Not only because most of the world will not go this way," the German chancellor said.

In this regard, Scholz stated that Germany and Western countries need diversification of the economy, studying the aggressive policy of Russia and Putin, which uses energy as weapons. According to him, Germany has already tested dependence on Russian gas, so "this mistake will not happen again. " In this context, this means that, above all, China's dependence should be reduced by finding new sources of supply and markets.

"We will make sure that the German economy and Germany have experienced difficult times as a place of doing business," Scholt promised. We will remind, during the meeting the head of the PRC Xi Jinping with German Chancellor Olaf Slaff Chinese leader stated that Europe would be more independent than the United States. According to him, China is interested in keeping European countries with a vector of development with Beijing that is traced now.
