Used Patriot and Old Soviet C-200: As the Defense Forces made ambushes on A-50 RF
About it writes the edition of The Times. Yes, a high -ranking GUR Officer of the Ministry of Defense revealed to journalists the details of the operation in common with the air forces. According to him, in May 2022, Ukraine decided to restore the Soviet S-200 systems. For this purpose, specialists who used to operate these anti-aircraft missile complexes-searched for officers and engineers who were able to restore them began.
For the first time, the C-200 was launched in the fall of 2023, however, then the missiles were not hit by the target because the enemy A-50 aircraft changed the trajectory. But despite the fact that the operation was unsuccessful, it had a positive effect. "On the first attempt, when we launched two rockets, they saw how quickly we hid the starting installations and evacuated - no one even noticed where we were," - said the GUR officer.
Also in 2023 the Air Force was used by German Patriot batteries. "It was very risky because we had to drive very close to the front. It is a radar, a launcher, a power source, a security machine. It is five or six large cars," said the Lieutenant Colonel of the Air Force of Ukraine. On January 14, 2023, the SPR battery ambushed for the Russian A-50, which was flying over the Azov Sea, paired with the IL-22 Command Center.
The Russians were convinced that they were in the area of lack of terrestrial threat. They had less than two minutes before rockets-A-50 fell into the sea, and IL-22 was injured. After that, the command of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation took A-50 beyond the reach of Patriot, however, they could reach the C-200, which Ukrainians used on February 23.
Then the Ukrainian battery C-200 under the leadership of GUR struck the second A-50 aircraft, which was about 170 kilometers from the front line. During another operation, the defense force was able to inflict new losses by the occupiers. They used the S-300 system with the radar on as a bait and lured the planes into the Patriot area. "They gladly flew out to destroy the C-300 and here appeared Patriot.
Of the six aircraft, two were knocked down C-300, and four-Patriot," the Lieutenant Colonel of the Air Force said. On April 19, GUR was struck by the S-200, the Russian strategic TU-22M3 bomber, it crashed over the Stavropol region when he performed a mission to launch cruise missiles in Ukraine. "Since then, they have changed the rocket launch distance. We have pushed them from some purposes that they could attack," the officer added.
