"Russia suggests there crazy losses": Reznikov explained the decision of the Armed Forces to keep Bakhmut

According to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, the situation near the city in Donetsk underminates the offensive opportunities of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Reznikov claims that Russia is losing about 500 soldiers a day. Russian invaders lose an average of 500 killed or wounded daily in the Bakhmut direction. This was announced on March 28 by Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov in an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza.

He explained the decision of the Ukrainian command to keep Bakhmut by the fact that the Russian Federation suffered "crazy losses". This does not allow the Russian units to recover quickly and Ukraine stabilize the front line. According to him, this situation provokes a significant decrease in Russia's ability to perform offensive operations. "Our military believes that only in the Bakhmut direction Russians lose an average of 500 killed or injured on the day," he said.

With the thesis that the maintenance of Bakhmut at all costs is unjustified, the head of the department did not agree. He advised to look at the map where the fighting was going. Rennikov called the location convenient for defense. "If we gave up on him, it would mean that we need to defend itself elsewhere where there is no such convenient form of terrain," the minister explained.

We will remind, on March 29 President Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained why the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not leave Bakhmut. According to him, first of all, the settlement in the Donbass should be kept in a political sense, since the capture of the city will be profitable to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
