Stole a quarter of a million hryvnias: in Kharkiv a taxi driver robbed a military

To spread: In Kharkiv, a 23-year-old taxi driver stole a bank card and a mobile phone from his customer serviceman. In total, the victim lost more than UAH 257 thousand. The incident happened in May 2025, told on September 4 the police communication department of Kharkiv region. According to law enforcement officers, a 23-year-old resident of Kharkiv, who worked as a taxi driver, robbed the military.

According to the investigation, a soldier sat in a taxi near the metro station, and asked the driver to stay near the ATM to withdraw funds. The suspect saw that his passenger could not perform the operation on his own and suggested help. The military handed him a card and his phone, which cost more than UAH 3,600, and after the trip, the driver did not return these things and disappeared.

According to law enforcement officers, the suspect, along with their 41-year-old acquaintances, removed more than 20 thousand hryvnias from the ATM and bought four mobile phones for that money. In total, they caused more than UAH 257,000 to military losses. The driver was informed about suspicion of fraud (Part 1 of Article 190), theft (Part 4 of Article 185), as well as under Part 1 of Art.

357 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abduction, appropriation, extortion of documents, stamps, seals, seizure of them through fraud or abuse of office or damage). The 41-year-old man was suspected only in theft. Under these articles, these articles face up to 8 years in prison.
