A military instructor from Europe was detained in Ukraine: he could have worked for the FSB

Share: A former military instructor from one of the European countries was detained in Kyiv by counterintelligence and investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine. The man is suspected of passing information about the Defense Forces of Ukraine to the Russian special services and preparing to commit terrorist attacks, the SBU press service reported.

During the investigation, it became clear that at the beginning of 2024, a man with specialized skills in fire and tactical training came to Ukraine to work as a mobilization instructor. However, within a few months, the person involved in the case decided to earn in another way and began to offer his services to the Russian special services. For this, he left "announcements" in various pro-Kremlin Internet groups.

Soon he was recruited by an FSB employee, and he began to cooperate with the Russians. According to law enforcement officers, he gave the enemy information about foreign instructors of the Defense Forces, with whom he communicated earlier, as well as the coordinates of the training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the south of Ukraine, where he trained the mobilized.

The occupiers then sent him instructions for making an improvised explosive device, as well as the coordinates of the hiding place from which he retrieved a pistol with two loaded magazines. He did not have time to implement his plans because he was detained. He was informed of the suspicion under Part 3 of Art.

114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the placement of the Armed Forces or other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, committed under martial law). The detainee faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. The investigation in the case continues.
