Increased readiness: NATO will build a headquarters of land forces 100 km from the border with Russia

It is assumed that at least 375 officers of the Alliance member countries will be sent to work in Mickel, of which at least 25 are from Finland. In the city of Mickel in the south of Finland, located about 100 kilometers from the Russian border, it is planned to create a new NATO Land Staff. This is discussed in the material of the Finnish newspaper Iltalehti. The publication emphasizes that Mickel has a so -called high readiness headquarters, it is in a operative state 24 hours a day.

Authorities plan to create NATO headquarters there, which will subordinate the Command of the Joint Forces in the city of Norfolk in the United States-part of the NATO military command. In addition, it is known about plans to work in Mikkel at least 375 officers of NATO member states, of which at least 25 are from Finland. It is assumed that in peacetime the structure will coordinate land operations in the region.

The head of the Ministry of Defense of Norway Bjorn Arilda Gram said that thanks to the creation of the NATO Land Forces Command Center, it would be possible to "shake the fruits of membership of all northern countries" in the Alliance. "In order for us to be able to take advantage of all the Scandinavian countries in NATO, it is important that we are in one headquarters for all armed forces," Gram says.

Journalists of the publication emphasize that to convince the Commander-in-Chief of the United NATO Armed Forces in Europe in the advisable to create a new headquarters in Finland, Norway was able to create.
