From drones to firearms: China regularly supplies the Russian Federation for war - Pentagon

The Chinese government is trying to balance the strategic partnership with the Russian Federation, but at the same time avoid reputation or economic losses that may be due to the help of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. China allows the Russian military to buy weapons and drones in commercial markets. This is stated in the Pentagon report for Congress. The full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine was unexpected for China and was a serious challenge for the country.

Beijing is probably trying to balance the strategic partnership with the Russian Federation, but at the same time avoid reputational or economic losses that can cause help to the Russians. Officially, the PRC denies any applications for the supply of lethal weapons in the Russian Federation. However, China does not regulate the market of commercial drones, and allowed the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to buy drones and drones used for war against Ukraine.

From March 2022 to 2023, Chinese companies exported such products and details for more than $ 12 million. The report also states that the Russian Federation bought dual -use goods and some types of firearms, spare parts, navigation equipment and protective equipment. At the same time, the Pentagon notes that China is still considering the volume and scale of liabilities for providing financial assistance to the Russian Federation.

China's government officials are suspected of intentions of the Russian Federation. They look at Chinese-Russian relations through a historical prism when the Russian Empire and the USSR used a weaker China. Therefore, bilateral relations are imbued with tension and strategic distrust. Beijing tries to withstand neutrality, but sometimes their statements are repeated by Russian with criticism of the United States. They avoid calling the war in Ukraine "war" and do not condemn the Kremlin's actions.
