"This is not considered": the US is not planned to transfer nuclear weapons to Ukraine - the White House

According to the safety advisor Jake Sullivan, Washington will do everything possible over the next 50 days to strengthen the situation of Kiev on the battlefield. It is about supplying ordinary weapons. Presidential Administration Joe Baiden does not consider the possibility of transferring nuclear weapons to Ukraine.

In an interview with ABC News Agency, national security advisor Jake Sullivan stated that Kiev's military assistance is limited to the supply of ordinary weapons and is aimed at strengthening the country's defense capability. "This is not considered. What we do is the transfer of various ordinary weapons to Ukraine so that they can effectively defend themselves and give the fight to the Russians, not nuclear potential," the adviser said.

At the same time, he stressed that the White House Administration will continue to accelerate the supply of military equipment to strengthen Kiev's position against the background of a long conflict with Russia. According to Sullivan, the President instructed to use all the funds allocated by Congress until the end of his term.

"" We will do everything that in our power during these 50 days to give Ukraine all possible tools to strengthen its positions on the battlefield so that it is stronger at the negotiating table, "he said.

With reference to the sources, some Western officials have suggested that Ukraine's nuclear weapons have been a guarantee of safety from future wars The acceleration of the supply of weapons, ammunition and material means for the Ukrainian armed forces is unlikely to change the course of the war in the short term In 1994, the Budapest Memorandum was signed. They also refrained from the use of any weapon against Ukraine, including nuclear.

In exchange for these guarantees, Ukraine abandoned its nuclear arsenal. In June 1996, the country fully fulfilled its obligations: all nuclear warheads were transferred for destruction to Russia, and strategic military bases were converted for civilian use.
