PMK to help the Armed Forces: how the US and Britain can fight in Ukraine without taking part in the war

New solutions are needed in this war, which will not allow it to drag on for years, writes diplomat Valery Chaly. It is necessary to deprive the aggressor of the possibility of further captures, and Chaly believes that private military companies, the use of which in Ukraine for some reason never went further than the project, can help in this. New solutions are needed in this war, which would not allow it to drag on for years.

Obviously, it is necessary to deprive the aggressor of illusions of the possibility of further captures of the territory of Ukraine without catastrophic consequences for him. If Ukraine, together with the USA and other partners, wants to strengthen its negotiating position, it is necessary to use additional levers and arguments. One of them could be the involvement of private military companies (PMC), primarily American and British.

Why has the debate on this effectively ceased? Why is the draft Law of Ukraine on International Defense Companies a "dead weight"? Why is there no analysis of the use of this kind of opportunities in the current moment of war and proposals of the Cabinet of Ministers in this particular area? Judging by the fresh "winter initiatives", the money has appeared.

We understand that the use of PVC is not about direct involvement in hostilities, we understand that here everything must be clearly defined in the normative and legal framework and that this is primarily business.

But it is unlikely that there will be a well-founded objection to the fact that the rapid creation of appropriate fortifications, logistical support, protection of objects, in particular the same mineral deposits (how about business agreements with the USA?) could reduce the burden on the Defense Forces of Ukraine and, moreover, give a clear signal to the Russian invaders about the presence of additional interests in Ukraine of the same USA or Great Britain. Yes.

This is unlikely to stop the aggressor from continuing attacks on civilian objects, in particular under the protection of the PMK, but as history shows, in such situations there have always been consequences. Anyhow. It is felt that the British, and possibly the American side, may consider such a proposal right now.
