Share: Recorded at least the 17th loss of Russian aircraft from "friendly fire" during the full-scale war. The incident occurred during an attack by Ukrainian drones on the territory of Russia. According to The Insider, the Russian military lost a Ka-52 attack helicopter due to "friendly fire". Several profile Z-channels wrote about this the day before, noting that the fighter jet mistakenly fired at its helicopter while repelling a raid by Ukrainian drones.

According to preliminary information, the crew of the helicopter died. Authors of pro-Russian channels assume that the plane was mistaken for an enemy UAV — the strike was aimed at the wrong target. Analysts at The Insider note that this incident is at least the 17th confirmed loss of Russian aircraft and helicopters to self-fire since the start of the full-scale invasion. Only in 2025, this is the second such recorded event.

In total, Russia has already lost at least 12 aircraft (four Su-35, three Su-34, two A-50, as well as one Su-27, Su-30 and Il-22) and five helicopters (two Ka-52, one Ka-29, Mi-24 and Mi-8) from "friendly fire". We will remind, as reported by Focus, the KA-52 "Alligator" helicopter of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation crashed in the combat zone in Ukraine. As Focus reported, in Donetsk region, a Russian Su-25 shot down its partner with unguided missiles.
