"Seventy two rests": Tankers 114 of the Armed Forces of Ukraine told about Croatian tanks M-84A4 (video)

To extend: The Croatian M-84 tanks, upgraded to M-84A4 Sniper, were arrived at the 141st Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ukrainian tankers said that this sample is different from the Soviet main combat tanks (VTT) T-72. The tank unit operating at the junction of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions, notes that compared to the Soviet T-72M, which became the basis for the Croatian machine, M-84 has a more developed electronics and a high level of automation.

This is stated in the report of TV5. "Seventy two is resting compared to it. The difference is tremendous. Here more electronics thinks than you need to work with your hands," - said the commander of the car with the call sign "Rocky". M-84 is equipped with a combined SCS-84 sight with a day and night infrared channel, which works as part of a digital fire control system. It automatically takes into account the meteodans and the distance to the target, facilitating the work of the gunner.

In this case, the laser range range has a measurement range of up to 10 km and accuracy ± 7. 5 m. Also, the Croatian tank has a more powerful 1000-horsepower diesel engine V46-TK, as well as improved actuators of rotation of the tower and vertical guidance of a gun, which improves maneuverability and mobility compared to Soviet. At the same time, the level of protection remained at the T-72m1/T-72A level-the machine did not receive additional reservation packages or built-in dynamic protection.

Therefore, Ukrainian crews strengthened the body and tower with the elements of "contact-1" and installed antitrone metal grates. It should be noted that the first prototype of the M-84 tank was created in 1982 by Yugoslav engineers under the guidance of the Military Technical Institute in Belgrade. The works were carried out to improve the combat characteristics of the T-72.

It is noteworthy that according to the information of Russian profile sites, several samples of M-84A tanks were sent to the USSR, where Soviet experts studied and recognized the achievements of Yugoslav colleagues-a number of systems used were not inferior or even exceeded the equipment used on Soviet T-72 tanks. The plans of transfer of these machines became known in November 2024. Croatia declared the intention to put 30 M-84 tanks and 30 BMP M-80.

In exchange, the country must receive compensation from Germany, which will be purchased 50 Leopard 2A8. The cost of compensation together with weapons and spare parts was estimated at 144. 8 million euros, which should partially cover the order of new equipment. We will remind, on September 11, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported that the Armed Forces received two Trophy T-72 tanks and T-72 B3-M of the occupying army of the Russian Federation.
