"Mini-grani will cleans the path for winged missiles": as the Russian Federation scares drones-"lawn mowers"

Russians can use a new version of ShahED-136 to increase the blows in Ukraine, but there is nothing unusual with them, experts say. During a massive attack on the Kiev region, on October 21, the Russians used a previously unknown type of drone-Kamikadze. The Russian Military Chronicle Media writes that it could have been reduced versions of Iranian Shahd drones-"Mini-Granni". The other day, Dle 60 gas fragments appeared on the network from the drone that allegedly fell in the Kiev region.

This can be purchased freely on the Chinese online site AliExpress for about 18 thousand UAH. It produces a higher sound compared to MD550 motors mounted on ShahED-136, and resembles a lawn mower while operating. According to the speaker of the Air Force of Ukraine Yuri Ignat, such UAVs are equipped with engines purchased in China and then stuffed with several kilograms of explosives. Despite its simplicity, they still pose a threat to Ukrainians.

The Military Chronicle voiced two versions of what it could be for UAV. The first is the drones "Italmas" (product 54) from Azevskan-it is part of the Zala Aero group and releases drones-Kamikadze "Lancet". As they wrote earlier, such UAVs were presented in the city of Izhevsk in the Udmurt Republic of Russia in September 2023 and even shown President Vladimir Putin. In appearance, the engine really resembles a DLE 60.

In Aerospace, it is assured that it is a completely Russian development that continues the idea of "Gerana"-shock drones-Kamikadze with internal combustion engines. In this case, the fuel was decided to pour directly into the wings to increase its stock and flight range. It is expected that Italmas will be able to overcome more than 200 km and attack the targets with an increased combat unit.

In September, General Designer of Azevskan said that in September, the Italmas UAV was almost ready for supply, as its tests began in January 2023. Its main goals will be artillery and armored vehicles of Ukraine's defense forces, which are quite far from the front line and feel in relative security. In a comment for Forbes, American expert in Russian technologies, Samuel Bendett, suggested that "Italmas" could fill a niche between "Lancates" and "Shahheda" if it has a stated flight range.

According to the media, the Russians use the Jetson Tx2 processors in these UAVs, which are produced in the United States, which is likely to help capture goals through artificial intelligence technology. According to another version of "Military Chronicle", the fragments of the engine belong to the new version of the bargage ammunition "Gerani-3". Structurally, these drones are believed to be repeated by Iranian Shahd-131, a younger version of the SHahd-136 drone.

According to the Russian media, "Gerani-3" can have a fighting part of 25 kg, which is less than the ShahED-136, but about the same flight range. The Russians assure that thermal signature and the overall level of acoustic and infrared visibility in "Gerani-3" are much lower than that of predecessors, so such drones can attack the military facilities of the Armed Forces "without long-term planning of operations and careful training".

It is assumed that the price of UAV production is three times lower than the ShahED-136. "Mini-Gerani", writes "Military Chronicle", will help to strengthen mixed air strikes on military facilities and infrastructure in Ukraine, using the Dron + Dron + Winged rocket scheme.

According to analysts, the alternate launch of different types of UAVs will help the occupiers to distract the Ukrainian air defense system to clear the path for the use of the winged rockets "Caliber-NK", "Onyx", "Iskander" and X-101. "This approach will allow you to play both with the density of the task of blows and with their geography," the Russians write.

Ukrainian military, radio technologies, communications and radio electronic struggle, Serhiy Beskrestnov (Flash) said on Facebook that there is nothing new in Russian drones that attacked the Kiev region. In his opinion, it could be a Chinese commercial Mugin-3. Sergey Beskrestnov added that both Russian and Ukrainian engineers are experimenting with different types of UAVs. They are currently making basic efforts to reduce noise level and the visibility of aircraft for air defense systems.

"The issue of satellite navigation for UAVs and its suppression throughout the country is still relevant," the expert summed up. It is worth noting that on the evening of October 22, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched shock drones in Kiev, and residents of several areas heard the sound of an engine similar to a lawn mower. It is quite easy to distinguish from a louder engine ShahED, which has long been called "mopeds".
