According to the Black Sea Grain Initiative, last year, through the mediation of the United Nations and Turkey, Ukrainian ships left the ports of Odessa and other cities, passing the blockade of Russia. The vessels transported the products necessary to support stable world prices. Now that the Russian Federation has unilaterally left the agreement, Moscow "does not guarantee the safety of" ships departing through the sea.
Dmitry Barinov, Deputy Head of the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine, stated that because the main port is closed and attacked, Odesa is in a suspended state. "The port that functions is life for Odessa," Barinov said. Russian troops attacked Odessa on July 23. Residential buildings and administrations were destroyed. According to the latest data, at least one person was killed, 22 were injured, 14 citizens, three of whom were children hospitalized.
