Laser weapons successfully impressed small quadcopters at a distance of 50 and 110 meters. The latter was the most relevant successful use of Aurelius laser to date. It is worth noting that in December of the Armed Forces reported that Ukraine had created its own laser weapons. According to SBS commander Vadim Sukharevsky, she can knock down the planes at an altitude of more than 2 km.
Aurelius LWS (Laser Weapon System) was unfolded on top of a remote hill and worked in a guard mode, watching the sky and earth autonomously, showing threats and tracking real -time goals. Using the fiber laser of the near infrared range, the system successfully impressed both static and moving drones, demonstrating their readiness for troops at the tactical level. Judging by the photo, the UAVs were statically fixed on metal poles.
According to Aurelius Systems CEO, Michael Laframbase, the ability of the system to identify, track and destroy air goals during their maneuver demonstrates its increasing operational efficiency. The tests were held at the JIFX site with the Chariod Defense compact high -voltage Chariod. It replaced three bulky fossil fuel generators and provided laser power and retained enough energy for more than 1,000 shots.
Low acoustic and thermal signatures of batteries increase survival and mobility - key characteristics for deploying power systems on the battlefield. Laser weapons are gaining importance in US military doctrine due to its obvious advantages over conventional kinetic systems. These include the speed of light, high accuracy and scaled, non -clipping impact, which makes it ideal for cases where you need to minimize concomitant damage.
Particularly important, laser weapons offer a much lower cost per shot - only a few dollars for electricity, compared to tens of thousands of dollars for ordinary interceptors or missiles. Therefore, it is especially well suited to combat cheap threats that the enemy can use massively, for example, with groups of drones, barraging ammunition, even with vollets of artillery shells or missiles.
The JIFX site brought together dozens of new technological companies, military engineers and experienced students in NPS for testing, creating prototypes and checking new defense opportunities in realistic conditions. These measures not only accelerate the development of dual -use technologies, but also directly support the priority of the Pentagon for the deployment of advanced systems in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), unmanned systems and combating drones.
