Russians who refused to fight are still sent to the front in Ukraine without court - isw

According to ISW analysts, the Russian Ministry of Defense can send to the front in the Kharkiv region servicemen who are waiting for a trial to strengthen limited forces in the region. Servicemen of the Russian occupation army, who refused to participate in hostilities against Ukraine, are held at the basic points of military units in the Russian Federation until they are waiting for court. However, often these soldiers are suddenly exported to the north of Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.

This is stated in the report of the American Institute of War Study (ISW) of June 3, 2024. "The Russian military is forcibly sending Russian servicemen who refused to fight in Ukraine, instead of the court to refuse to participate in the fighting," the report reads.

In particular, the Russian edition of "Verkha" reported that the Russian military leadership began to forcibly send hundreds of Russian servicemen who refused to participate in Russian fighting to the front in Ukraine, including to the north of Kharkiv and Donetsk regions. It happened in May 2024.

"The Russian soldiers keep military personnel at the basic points of military units in Russia, while they are waiting for the court for crimes related to their refusal to fight, and then suddenly abolish the courts and immediately send them to Ukraine," - said in the material "Lands". The publication also reported that the Russian authorities used physical violence to force some soldiers to go to Ukraine voluntarily, and others were taken out of the chambers under the gun and sent to the front.

"Russian troops probably launched an offensive operation in the north of the Kharkiv region, when the northern group of troops was undercapitated, and the Ministry of Defense of Russia can send to the front in the Kharkiv region military personnel who are waiting for trial to strengthen limited forces in the region," The ISW analysts noted.
