Equate Russia and Ukraine: the UN Human Rights Report was criticized in Kiev

The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Lubinets believes that the UN report did not take into account the recommendations and remarks of the Ombudsman's office, and is indignant at the UN attempts to comply with the rules of international humanitarian law Ukraine and the Russian Federation. A number of conclusions in the United Nations Report on Human Rights to Ukraine are false that have an attempt to identify the extent of violations with the Russian Federation.

About it wrote the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets in his Telegram. "A number of UN conclusions against Ukraine are false. I categorically disagree that certain remarks and recommendations provided by the Ombudsman's office have not been taken into account," Lubinets stressed. He points out that the UN report refers to the torture of Russian prisoners of war in transit points.

But law enforcement officers investigate the relevant facts, and the coordination headquarters, the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine confirmed the fact of continuation of the inspections. Lubinets also emphasizes that the conditions of detention of Russian prisoners of war are in line with the Geneva Convention.

Also, Ombudsman's office, together with representatives of NGOs, regularly attend camps for holding prisoners of war and special sites in detention facilities. At the same time, the UN, according to Lubin, did not take into account the difference on the scale of violations of international humanitarian law between Ukraine and Russia. "We see what Ukrainians return from Russian captivity. They used torture, torture, psychological pressure, did not give proper medical care.

They return home sometimes with injuries that are incompatible with life," Lubinets wrote, indignant norms of international humanitarian law. At the same time, the Ombudsman noted that Ukraine provides access to international organizations that can cover the situation in their reports, while Russia does not provide such access. We will remind, Focus reported that the UN published a report on torture of captives of the Armed Forces in the Russian Federation.
