The restoration of electricity supply: Ukraine and the Russian Federation are involved in cooperation - IAEA

To spread: in Ukraine the process of restoration of the external power supply of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZPP) has begun. According to the CEO Raphael Mariana Grossi, both sides of the conflict agreed to cooperate to guarantee nuclear security on the facility.

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), after numerous consultations with representatives of Ukraine and the Russian Federation, the CEO of Rafael Marian Grosssey said that a process was initiated to restore the external power supply of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, which has lost its connection to the network.

According to Grossi, in recent weeks he has maintained constant contact with both parties to solve the problem related to the latest shutdown of external power supply. "After intensive consultations, the process began to restore the power supply outside the object-through the lines" Dniprovskaya "and" Ferroallana-1 "," said CEO. He noted that although the network connection can take some time, Ukraine and Russia are working with the IAEA to achieve this important purpose.

"No one wins from the further deterioration of the situation in this respect," Grossi said. On September 23, the faithful during the conflict, the Zaporizhzhya NPP lost its connection to the power network after damage to the last high -voltage line 750 kilovolts (KV). Almost five months ago, the station also lost 330 square meters. Both parties accuse hostilities. Within two weeks after the shutdown, the NPP provided the operation of safety systems using emergency diesel generators.

Currently, seven generators are working on the facility, and 13 more are on standby. They are used to cool six stopped reactors and pools with waste fuel. The IAEA team, which is permanently located at the station, reported that the temperature in the reactors and reservoirs remains stable and the radiation level is within normal limits. During the last bypass, the experts evaluated the state of electric generators and confirmed the normal operation of the main cooling systems.

Agency experts continue to record military activity near the station. On Tuesday night, they heard five explosions near the ZPP, which caused the windows to be trembling in the observation group building. Recall that Zaporizhzhya NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. From the beginning of the Russian invasion, it has been occupied, and hostilities are regularly occurring around it. The IAEA maintains a constant mission on the facility to control the situation with nuclear security.
