"They are asking to mobilize more": Zelensky told how many Ukrainians join the army every month

Share: Ukraine mobilizes about 30,000 people every month, but President Volodymyr Zelenskyi emphasizes that the issue of expanding mobilization is one of the most sensitive for the state. In an interview with the Bloomberg agency, the head of state explained that it is necessary to maintain a balance between the needs of the army and the economy. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that currently the Ukrainian army mobilizes approximately 30,000 people a month.

According to him, partners and the military insist on increasing this indicator, but the final decision must be balanced and take into account the situation in the rear. "The issue of people is, of course, the most sensitive and the most difficult - for me, for the soldiers, for society, and for our partners. We do not have a comparable number of people with Russia, but we must find a balance.

Even if the military asks to mobilize more, we must remember: this is society, these are people who have to work and pay taxes. It is this money that then goes to the army," Zelensky emphasized. The head of state emphasized that, despite pressure from some allies, the decision on the volume of mobilization is made by the Ukrainian military command itself. "With all due respect to our partners, they are not on the battlefield.

That's why our army's decision is to mobilize about 30,000 people a month. And that's how the system works now," the president said. In addition to the issue of mobilization, Zelenskyi focused on Ukraine's military needs. He emphasized that three things remain the most important for changing the course of the war: the unity of the West in supporting Ukraine, the strengthening of air defense systems, and the supply of long-range weapons.

The President drew attention to the fact that Ukrainian positions suffer from a shortage of artillery, and the need for modern air defense systems is growing every day due to constant Russian shelling. "The most important thing for us is not to lose support and unity between the United States and Europe. We need long-range artillery, which is lacking at the front, and air defense systems.

We are grateful to our partners for allowing us to purchase missiles and defense systems, but there is always a lack of time, because we are attacked every day," Zelenskyi said. He said that Ukraine has already started production of its own interceptor drones and joint projects with the USA in the field of defense industry. The head of state called this an important step towards strengthening the self-sufficiency of the Ukrainian army.

"We started joint production of drones and interceptors with the United States. This is only the beginning, but I hope that there will be more such projects. This will help us not only to defend ourselves, but also to develop our own defense sector," he emphasized. Zelenskyi also explained that long-range weapons are needed to effectively destroy military targets on the territory of Russia, because many targets are protected by dense air defense systems.

"It's not just about Tomahawks, it's about similar long-range systems. We have to be able to respond to attacks, because they hit us every day. It's not just a matter of tactics, it's a matter of survival," the president said. Separately, Zelensky commented on the situation at the front, in particular the battles for Pokrovsk. He emphasized that decisions about tactical retreats or holding positions are made by commanders directly on the ground, based on the real situation.

"This is the decision of our generals. I support the commanders who see the real picture. For us, the lives of soldiers are the most valuable. We have to understand: in October, the Russians lost more than 25,000 people near Pokrovsk — these are only the losses that we confirmed on video from drones," Zelenskyy said. It will be recalled that the occupiers infiltrated Pokrovsk when Ukraine transferred part of its fighters to other areas of the front.
