And thank you very much for all this time that you have been with us," said the Head of State. The President informed about the situation at the front, in particular in Pokrovsk, and emphasized that during October, Russia lost the largest number of people since the beginning of the full-scale invasion - more than 25 thousand killed. The motivation of the Russian occupiers is declining, but their authorities will apply various incentives, including money.
According to the head of state, Russia does not want to stop the war, but is only increasing its military presence in Ukraine, so it is necessary to increase the pressure on it. Special attention is paid to the use of frozen Russian assets for the defense of Ukraine. The senators reported that they are working on this issue and are preparing a corresponding draft law.
Volodymyr Zelensky also thanked the USA and President Trump personally for the adopted sanctions and called for continued work in this direction. "We really want the Senate and Congress to support secondary sanctions. I know this is a sensitive topic, but it is very important to us. And, of course, we really need your ideas regarding stronger sanctions against the energy industry," the President noted.
The Head of State also informed about the weapons that Ukraine needs to defend against Russian aggression, in particular "Tomahawks" and the strengthening of air defense. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Lindsey Graham assured that they continue to work on advancing their bills on sanctions, as well as on recognizing Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism, if it does not return kidnapped Ukrainian children. According to them, this bill has broad bipartisan support.
During the conversation, they discussed in detail the work for the return of Ukrainian children and the personal efforts of the first lady of the USA, Melania Trump. Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the parents of the children who were returned thanks to her assistance wrote a letter of gratitude to the first lady of the United States.
In addition, the senators assured of the unchanging bicameral and bipartisan support of Ukraine from the United States and noted the courage of the Ukrainian people in the fight against Russian aggression.
