"Need a powerful air defense, not cathedrals": an expert after hitting Odessa turned to the Italians

According to Oleksandr Kovalenko, according to Europeans 500 thousand euros it is better to strengthen the defense of the sky. Instead, the funds were allocated for the restoration of the Transfiguration Cathedral of Odessa, a powerful air defense system (air defense), not repair of temples, was needed. About it in his Telegram-channel wrote military observer Alexander Kovalenko, commenting on the rocket strike of Russia in the city tonight, March 25.

In particular, he recalled that at one time the Italian side expressed his willingness to help work on the restoration of the Odessa Transfiguration Cathedral, which was significantly destroyed in July last July. The particular reason for the indignation of Kovalenko was that the Italians provided 500 thousand euros to restore "no one needed the cathedral". The expert recalled that, as far as he knows, some parishioners of this temple prayed "for health" of Patriarch Cyril, loyal to Moscow.

According to the observer, prayers for him could be heard in the walls of this cathedral both after 2014 and with the beginning of a full -scale war. According to Oleksandr Kovalenko, the financing that Italy provided for the restoration of a cult building will be much more appropriate to protect against Russian rocket attacks. "It was possible to allocate this money for the purchase for Odessa SMP/T . . .

If you want to help Odessa, you do not need to help rebuild unnecessary churches, it is better to help with air defense! Ukraine needs not domes! - said Kovalenko. We will remind, that tonight, March 25, the Russian arias for the second day struck a missile strike in Ukraine, releasing a ballistic missile in the direction of Odessa. At the same time in the Air Force of the Armed Forces reported a rocket in the direction of the city. After that, a strong explosion came in Odessa for a while.

The local authorities urged the residents not to leave the shelter. It is also known that the army of the Russian Federation on July 23, 2023 struck a massive combined rocket strike across Odessa. In particular, the central part of the city, including the Transfiguration Cathedral, was significant.
