The incident took place in the Kupyan district, where the State Emergency Service was performing an official task of extinguishing a fire. According to the information of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the rescuers were working at the place where the fire broke out after an enemy attack.

During the extinguishing of the fire, Russian troops repeatedly fired at the area where the firefighters were: one worker was killed and five were injured. As a result of the attack by the Russian Armed Forces, 50-year-old Chief Master Sergeant of the Civil Defense Service Yuriy Chistikov, who is also the commander of Department 43 of the State Fire and Rescue Unit 4 of the State Fire and Rescue Squad of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in the Kharkiv region, died.

He is survived by a daughter. Colleagues note his courage, fearlessness and self-sacrifice.
