Peace negotiations of Russia and Ukraine: Trump told his advisers that he was "retreating" - the media

To extend: The next step in the peaceful process, according to President Donald Trump, should take place without his direct participation. He warned his main advisers that he was "retreating" from negotiations to end the war. Trump wants to leave Russia and Ukraine to organize a meeting of its leaders. Only then will a tripartite meeting will take place. This was reported with reference to their own sources on August 21 by The Guardian.

US officials said that the next stage of the peace process according to Trump's plans is the meeting of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. However, the Republican is not going to participate directly in its organization, although it is unclear whether such a summit will happen. "I just want to see what will happen at the meeting. So they are organizing it now, and we will see what will happen," Trump said in an interview on August 19.

In the publication, the unwillingness to push the leaders in the meeting is explained by the fact that ending the war in Ukraine was more difficult than Trump. He seeks a quick peace agreement, but now, according to the unnamed representative of the administration, has taken a "waiting position". It is noted that after meeting the White House, the American leader spoke with Putin for about 40 minutes.

However, according to the media, the summit may not happen soon, as Putin's assistant Yuri Ushakov said that the leaders agreed on the appointment of more high -ranking managers for direct negotiations. We will remind, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov stated that the head of the Kremlin Vladimir Putin is ready to meet with President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, but provided that the necessary issues and preparation by the ministers of recommendations.
