Analysts noted that in recent days, the Head of Chechnya has made contradictory religious statements. For example, on October 24, the head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnivanov and the head of Karachayevo-Cherkesky Republic of Rashid Temrezov awarded the son of Ramzan Kadyrov Adam by the Order of "Interethnic and Interregional Unity". It happened after the teenager beat a man suspected of burning the Koran.
Kadyrov himself, as reported, tried to smooth the corners and on October 25, together with the head of Rosgvardia Viktor Zolotov publicly declared the opening of the Orthodox Church in Chechnya. He then announced the creation of Sheikh Manzur in Chechnya. The ISW stated that this statement has caused indignation of Russian ultrading, since the unit with the same name was fighting on the side of Ukraine.
"Sheikh Manzur was a Chechen fighter of the eighteenth century, who opposed the Russian imperial rule," analysts said. According to experts, Kadyrov will probably continue to evoke the anger of Russian ultraduralists who are increasingly opposed to migrants who have come from mostly Muslim countries in Central Asia and other religious minorities in Russia.
