"21,602 in October. Twenty-one thousand six hundred and two people. That's how many escaped from the army last month. Officially," Ihor Lutsenko reported. According to him, this figure is a record. The military noted that the number of escapes can be imagined within time limits. "Every two minutes, a person escapes from our army. By the time you finish reading this post, another fighter will be on skis," Lutsenko wrote.
He emphasized that each such loss makes the country weaker and added that official statistics do not cover all cases. "I remind you that these are only official data. In fact, many cases of voluntary abandonment of a unit or desertion are not registered," the military officer explained. In his statement, Lutsenko drew a line between the retreating army and the one that is running away. "An army that is retreating is an army that is still capable of winning.
An army that is running away, that is losing more and more people month by month due to desertion, is already a danger to the existence of Ukraine," he said. Lutsenko emphasized that it is the lack of soldiers that leads to the daily advance of the enemy. There are enough resources at the front, but not enough people. Because of this, the load on each soldier increases. Lutsenko also drew attention to significant problems in defense and called on society not to be silent about the situation.
He believes that social activism can stop the catastrophe. "Even Pokrovsk, Kupyansk or the rapid offensives of the Russians these days are not such a strong pain as these numbers," Lutsenko emphasized. He added that deserters from the army are a threat to the state itself. "The army will retreat, but will continue to fight. But if the army is not there, nothing will happen," he said. In conclusion, the military officer called for an open discussion of the problem.
According to him, solutions to save the army are still possible. At the time of publication of the material, the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not comment on Ihor Lutsenko's statement. We will remind, Focus wrote about how to save the Ukrainian army and about a simple mechanism of combating the SZH. The most important problem of Ukraine at the moment is attracting people to the army, according to military serviceman Ihor Lutsenko.
