Marines armor: Russian Federation tests a new BT-3F in harsh climatic conditions (video)

The video shows how the tracked conveyor skillfully overcomes the heaps, small hills and off -road, demonstrating their capabilities. The machine is created on the basis of BMP-3F, but has a number of changes that indicate adaptation for the arctic conditions. The armor has a warmed body and is equipped with an autonomous heating system that can maintain a positive temperature in the cabin even with the main engine switched off.

BT-3F also received special caterpillars with extensions that provide low pressure on the soil. This greatly increases the patency in pristine snow. The armored personnel carrier is intended for transportation of motor infantry and specialized units, and can serve as a tactical command point and medical machine. Unlike the BMP-3F, this armored vehicle has no tower, instead, it has a raised add-on, similar to the artillery management machine 1V172-2.

According to Bulgarian Militis, after the official commissioning of BT-3F, can be a potential replacement of 8 × 8 BTR-80 series, which is currently used by Russian Maritime Infantry Units. As for tactical use, experts write that an armored personnel carrier plays a major role in ocean military operations, throwing marines from ships to shore. After going on land, it can patrol the territory, promote the transportation of troops and cargo, etc.

"This reflects the philosophy of the old Soviet BTR-50P model or American AAV7 amphibious armored vehicles, but BT-3F has a more compact design, which leads to less passenger capacity," the observers summed up. Earlier it was reported that at one of the military training grounds the Russians conducted a test of the latest armored personnel carrier K-16 "Boomerang", which should replace the outdated Soviet analogues of the BTR-80 and BTR-82.
