Guerrilla War: How Hamas Fighters try to fight Merkava tanks (video)

Experts say that the Palestinians will hunt for tanks using ambushes and underground tunnels. This is how the militant who managed to install a bomb aboard the Israeli tank did. Hamas terrorist fighters were posted on social networks by a video of the Israeli Tank "Merkavka", probably during the fighting in the Gaza Sector. First, the Palestinian militant hides in the bushes and then rushes to the tank and installs a homemade explosive (JI).

The 84-second roller was filmed with a camera installed on a helmet, laid on November 2 on Twitter. In the footage, the fighter is waiting for an ambush that is approaching. After approaching it, it rushes to the car and installs an explosive device made from the RPG jet grenade on the back of the tank. Then he runs back in the bush and the explosion erupts.

At this point, the fighter gets a grenade launcher, probably RPG "Al-Yasin-105" and makes a shot, after which the outbreak from the explosion is visible. At the end of the video, one of Hamas's fighters lifts a piece of metal, which probably indicates that it is part of the tank. The War Zone, commenting on the video, notes that the video was unclear whether the terrorist was able to destroy the Israeli tank, since only an outbreak from the explosion could be seen in the dust cloud.

At the same time, despite the Palestinian statement that the tank was allegedly destroyed, there is no confirmation even that "Merkav" was at least partially damaged. However, the video shows the vulnerability of armored vehicles when it does not work in conjunction with the infantry in the land surgery in the Gaza Sector.

The experts noted that Hamas's fights managed to run to the tank without interruption, then return to the entrance to the tunnel and shoot with the RPG, while the infantry in the footage was not visible. In connection with the operation of the starting, the representative of the Institute of Modern War (MWI), John Spencer said that the Palestinians, as in 2014, would use tunnels for guerrilla warfare to maneuver underground and carry out sudden attacks.

"The group will also use them for defensive purposes to move between combat positions to avoid firing means of tanches and land forces," said Spencer. We will remind, the chief of headquarters of the tachable Lieutenant General Herza Halevi said on November 2 that the Israeli army is already inside the city of Gaza and surrounds it in all directions. At the same time, he said that his soldiers were fighting in a densely populated and complex urban area, which requires professionalism and courage.
