West in response: China has frozen assets of two US firms for supplying weapons to Taiwan

General Dynamics Land Systems and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, which are involved in the production of Abrams and Predator and Reaper tanks, were included in unprecedented sanctions. On April 11, China imposed unprecedented sanctions against two American defense companies for allegedly supporting the sale of Taiwan's weapons.

According to the observers of The Eurasian Times, Beijing has frozen the assets of General Dynamics Land Systems and General Atomics Aronautical Systems, and the management of these companies closed entry to the PRC. It is noted that General Dynamics manages six Gulfstream aircraft service companies in China. And General Atomics produces Predator and Reaper drones used by the US military.

In addition, companies that have been sanctioned are involved in the production of basic combat tanks (VTTs) of Abrams, which were purchased by Taiwan. "This can be a cause for concern to the Taiwanese military, since the supply of Abrams is already behind the schedule," the authors of the publication write. Thus, China has imposed sanctions against two more US defense companies for Taiwan military assistance.

Previously, BAE Systems Land and Arments, Alliant Techsystems Operations, Aerovironment, Viasat and Data Link Solutions, as well as Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Missiles and Defense, came under sanctions. The last two companies have fallen into Beijing's attention after one of their planes knocked down a "suspicious spy ball" that flew over the continental part of the United States last year. Meanwhile, the observers noted that Beijing's actions could be a response to Washington's similar steps.

The fact is that on April 10, the US official announced that the country had introduced four Chinese companies on a black list for trying to buy artificial intelligence chips for Chinese military. In this regard, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Mao Nin at a briefing stated that China opposed that the United States use this list and other export control measures to "contain and suppress" Chinese enterprises.

"We urge the US to stop politicizing trade and technology and turn into weapons. China and Russia have the right to normal economic and trade cooperation, and such cooperation should not be subject to foreign intervention or restriction. We strongly oppose unlawful unilateral sanctions of the United States," The diplomat emphasized.
