Sanctions against Russian oil companies are the maximum he decided on. He could no longer do nothing either. So, in principle, he gave another 2-3 months to Putin in order for him to solve the minimum task - the full occupation of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which he can sell to his population as a victory. At the same time, regular attacks on the Ukrainian energy system will continue in order to influence the public opinion of Ukrainians.
We should not expect any sharp movements either from the USA, from Europe, or from China in the coming months. Everyone will be watching. Europeans should help as much as possible. But their possibilities are extremely limited. The new US and EU sanctions will have a limited effect, especially in the first months.
But, unfortunately, they are not enough to have such a strong impact on the Russian economy and the mood of the population in the Russian Federation that Putin suddenly stops fighting to the victorious end. Well, we can only hope for the Armed Forces and warm weather, which in the previous three years helped us survive the winter without any man-made disasters and serious interruptions with heat and light.
