Blow for the Russian Federation: Greek shipping companies stopped transporting Russian oil - media

Even the "shadow fleet" may now be not enough to transport all Russian oil, journalists say. Three large Greek shipping companies that have helped with Russian oil export for decades stopped its transportation to avoid US sanctions, which were imposed on individual oil carriers from the Russian Federation. About it reports Reuters.

Minerva Marine, Thenamris and TMS Tankers have transported Russian oil for decades and continued to do so when most other Western companies have abandoned it to avoid sanctional risks. According to the source, this development is a blow to Russia, as it narrows the number of navigable companies ready to transport Russian oil to consumers in Asia, Turkey, the Middle East, Africa and South America. More than 100 oil tankers are owned by Minerva Marine, Thenamaris and TMS Tankers.

Such arsenal is capable of covering almost all oil exports from Russian European ports Primorsk, Ust-Luga and Novorossiysk about 10 million tons per month or 2. 4 million barrels per day. According to Reuters, one of the traders said that the "shadow fleet" may not be enough to transport all Russian oil. Meanwhile, according to Washington, the United States is preparing to take rigid measures to violate the established price ceiling.

According to US Finance Minister Janet Ellen, the United States is expected from shipping companies from 30 countries about hundreds of vessels suspected of transporting oil from the Russian Federation with exceeding the price ceiling. The US also believes that there are no reasons for concern due to Russian oil. The restriction of oil prices for Russia, which was introduced by the United States and allies at the end of 2022 for a full -scale invasion of Ukraine, reduced the Kremlin's revenue.
