The representatives of the theater fund directly called the singer a "supporter of Putin's policy", writes the Italian agency ANSA. "Ildar Abdrazakov will not take part in the opera "Don Juan", which will be performed in Verona from January 18 to 25, 2026," the theater's official statement reads. Abdrazakov has repeatedly expressed his support for the Kremlin and the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Moreover, in 2024 he became one of Putin's representatives in the presidential elections in the Russian Federation. Because of such actions, the singer's career abroad is rapidly collapsing. His performances have already been canceled at prestigious theaters - the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala and San Carlo, as well as at the Munich Opera Festival in 2023.
