The Council allowed Ukrainians over 60 years of age to serve in the army: Details

To extend: men and women over 60 will be able to voluntarily serve in the Armed Forces under contract. The contract with them is concluded for a year, but it is necessary to pass the probationary period. The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading of the Bill No. 13229, which makes relevant amendments to the Law "On Military Duty and Military Service". Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported on Telegram on Telegram.

People's deputies propose to establish that during the martial law for the needs of the Armed Forces and other military formations, on the basis of the written consent of the commander of the unit for military service, persons aged 60 years of age can be accepted. Such recruits should be declared suitable for the service of the military-hospital commission.

If a person older than 60 years is in service in the Armed Forces under contract in the officers, the written consent of the commander of the military unit is issued only after the candidate's agreed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces or the authorized body of military administration of other military formation. The procedure for approval of candidates over 60 years is determined by the General Staff for admission to military service.

During the adoption of such persons, they set a probationary period of 2 months to find out the compliance of the serviceman with the requirements of the military service under contract. The military service period is set for one year. The term of military service for such servicemen may be extended under new contracts for one year. If the person does not meet the requested criteria, the contract is broken early and the serviceman is dismissed.

The limit age in the army for persons 60+ is not established. The explanatory note to the document states that since the beginning of a full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine a significant number of citizens of 60 and more years has expressed a desire to voluntarily defend the country. "Such citizens often have a high level of personal motivation, patriotism and have long -term life and unique professional experience in various fields of activity," the authors of the law say.

Particularly welcome is the presence of 60+ different technical knowledge in people. The war requires not only physical skills, but also deep professional knowledge. According to deputies, it is advisable to involve persons from 60 years of age with low physical activity. However, they can provide their experience, knowledge, discipline and responsibility. We will remind, the council spoke about the critical lack of personnel in the Armed Forces to continue the war with the Russian Federation.
