It is indicated that the shelters can withstand shelling and drone strikes: the Poles are building defenses against the means of destruction that the Russian Federation uses against Ukrainians. In the material of the military department, it is said that UBM is actually a "shelter factory" that manufactures and assembles metal structures directly at the construction site.
After installing the metal sheet roll and entering the parameters, the machine automatically forms the elements connected in the module. The production of three structural elements takes only a few minutes, which makes the technology indispensable for the need to quickly erect hangars, warehouses, garages or protective shelters. It is also reported that the Polish military is training under the guidance of American instructors, building training facilities measuring 20x19x9 meters.
After the completion of the construction, they will remain on the territory of the educational centers as part of the engineering structures. The purchase of UBM is an element of the Polish defense program "Eastern Shield" aimed at strengthening the country's eastern borders, the Polish military said.
It is planned to use the installations not only for the construction of the infrastructure of the program, but also for the construction of hangars, warehouses, field shelters and even living quarters. According to representatives of the Polish Ministry of Defense, UBM will make it possible to shorten the construction period and reduce costs, eliminating the need for contractors and lengthy tenders.
In parallel, the research group of the Military Technical Academy of Poland, under the leadership of Colonel Professor Ryszard Khmelewski, conducts experiments to increase the stability of structures built using UBM technology. Three test objects — a hangar, a garage and a warehouse — have already been erected at the training grounds in Yarocin and Sventoshuv, which have been tested for resistance to shelling and drone attacks.
The results of the experiments were recognized as more than satisfactory, so the Poles are now creating a catalog of typical solutions for further implementation in engineering divisions. Against the background of the successes of Polish engineers, the Ukrainian energy infrastructure remains extremely vulnerable.
According to Oleksiy Kucherenko, head of the TSK of the BP for price and tariff policy in energy, street transformers in Kyiv are still not protected, despite almost four years of full-scale war. He recalled that the attack on Kyiv on October 10 caused serious damage to energy facilities, especially transformers — ballistic strikes caused significant destruction, and air defense could not intercept all targets.
In his comments, Kucherenko constantly emphasized that the teams of Ukrainian energy workers are real heroes with the highest professional skills. But their heroism seems to be the result not only of Russian attacks, but also largely of the irresponsibility of Ukrainian officials.
