To spread: from the beginning of 2025 the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation has increased the use of new bargage ammunition equipped with autonomous control systems based on machine vision algorithms. The use of a gasoline engine version was recorded - this allowed the drone to attack the target up to 100 km from the front line. This was announced on May 21 on social networks by Ukrainian specialist Sergei "Flash" Beskrestnov.

Commenting on the news, Defense Express analysts noted that it is not just about a new modification, but a dangerous technological jump in the field of autonomous weapons. If at the beginning of the year such drones attacked targets at a distance of about 30 km, then in April a range of up to 80 km was recorded. The use of UAV version with a range up to 100 km is now recorded.

Experts added that Russia is actively implementing decisions that allow drones to act without GPS navigation, relying solely on visual navigation, machine vision and internal database. This makes the ammunition minimally vulnerable to radio electronic struggle (HRB). The new Russian drone, whose name is still unknown, is capable: such a degree of autonomy poses a serious threat.

Especially given that the Russian military does not limit the use of such drones exclusively by military purposes, and unlike the Western approaches to combat, do not adhere to the principle of "a person in the circuit of decision making". The Russian drone is equipped: the main element of the system is software - the algorithms of machine vision, which are responsible for navigation, breeding and attack of target.

According to analysts, with the advent of this technology, Russia can proceed to its mass integration into other types of long-range weapons-long-range drones, miniature winged missiles and more. And the possibility of complete rejection of communication and GPS makes such systems extremely resistant to suppression and difficult to intercept. We will remind, the armed forces of the Russian Federation began to start the updated drones "Shahaned" with more explosives - up to 90 kg.
