Such tactics once actively used the USSR in its attacks on other peoples. Military analyst Alexander Kovalenko told this in an interview with focus.

According to him, the USSR used such tactics in Afghanistan to intimidate people and not to help help. As a result of such actions, the USSR destroyed up to 2 million civilians until the end of the war. But this only increased hatred of "Soviets" and the strength of the Mujahides increased from 25 thousand to 120 thousand. "A similar strategy was also adopted by the Russian Federation, which committed terror of civilians during the first and second wars in Chechnya," Kovalenko emphasizes.
