Macron wants a truce between the Russian Federation and Ukraine from July 26 to August 11: Details

French President intends to seek ceasefire during the Olympic Games in Paris. To do this, he plans to enlist the support of China leader. On Monday, April 15, French President Emmanuel Macron said he was still hoping for the so -called Olympic truce between Russia and Ukraine, as well as Israel and Hamas. He reported this to the French TV channel BFMTV. "We want to work on the Olympic truce, and I think it is an opportunity by which I will try to attract many of our partners," Macron said.

In addition, the French president said he was going to ask for help from China's leader Xi Jinping, who plans to visit Paris in a few weeks. He recalled that the PRC also had to resolve similar issues in 2022, during the Winter Olympic Games. Macron stressed that the Summer Olympics of 2024, which will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11, should be the "moment of diplomatic peace".

"And it is here that the Olympics, from a diplomatic point of view, will bring a lot of benefits," he added. The head of France noted that Russian athletes will be able to perform under a neutral flag, although after Russian aggression in Ukraine in 2022 sanctions on athletes from the Russian Federation have intensified.

Thus, Vice president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) John Cousa in March this year drew the attention of the sports community that only 40 athletes from Russia will be able to perform under the neutral flag. "There will be no team sports (Russian. - Ed. ) Athletes, because they will not be able to compete in the Russian team," - quotes his words Sydney Daily Telegraph.
