"Does not live up to expectations": Putin has appointed "low -level" officials to negotiate with Ukraine - Bloomberg

To spread: Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed one of the officials in Istanbul, his assistant Vladimir Medinsky: he headed the negotiations in Istanbul in 2022, which broke through mutual accusations on Russian demands. Other officials in the Russian delegation are not key persons of the Kremlin: they can be attributed to "low -level officials". This was told by Bloomberg on May 15, against the backdrop of news that the Kremlin's head determined a delegation for talks in Turkey.

"Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed a group of low -level officials to represent his government in negotiations with Ukraine in Turkey and did not hint at what plans to join the negotiations," the material reads.

A group of four officials, which included, in addition to Medinsky, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galusin, Head of the Main Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia Igor Kostyukov and Deputy Minister of Defense of Russian Federation Alexander Fomin was called "experts".

The composition of the Russian delegation for negotiations in Istanbul, as noted in Bloomberg, "probably does not significantly justify the expectations of Kiev", since President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy demanded the presence of the Kremlin chairman in negotiations. However, neither Putin nor any of the other high-ranking officials of Russia, including Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, was not informed about the intentions to join in Istanbul.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to Bloomberg, earlier called negotiations without Putin's participation "meaningless", since officials of both "lower -level" countries were already met in Saudi Arabia in March, but failed to achieve results. It should be noted that the President of the United States of America Donald Trump will also not be present at the negotiations of Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul.
