Share: On the night of November 9, Russian troops attacked Ukraine's first large biomass thermal power plant, damaging its infrastructure. No injured workers were recorded. As Andrii Grinenko, the founder of the Clear Energy company, noted on Facebook, three drones hit the thermal power plant, which his team built back in 2016.

Grinenko emphasized that this station became an example for the Ukrainian energy industry, showing the possibility of achieving energy independence thanks to the use of local resources. "For me, this project has always been special because of the people who created it with faith in a strong, self-sufficient country. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Thank you to those who are on the ground today.

For courage, professionalism and resilience!", he wrote, expressing gratitude to the workers for their professionalism and courage during the attack. The head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Vyacheslav Chaus, reported that on November 8, the enemy fired at the energy facility in Koryukivka. As a result of a night strike by drones, several hits and a fire occurred at the enterprise, which was quickly extinguished by rescuers.

In total, during the past day, Chernihiv Oblast suffered 44 shellings and 73 explosions. In general, it is known from the company's website that Clear Energy LLC, or the Koryukiv thermal power station, is located in the city of Koryukivka, Chernihiv region, and operates on biomass - wood chips, sawdust and branches left after logging. The station produces electricity and heat at the same time, thanks to which the city receives a stable and independent source of energy.

The capacity of the TPP is about 5. 9 MW of electricity and 14 MW of thermal energy. The use of local wood waste allows to reduce the need for fossil fuels and reduce emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere. In addition, the operation of the station provides heat to residential buildings, schools, hospitals and other social facilities, while supporting local infrastructure and the economy of the city.
