"Like Bakhmut": Kovalenko named the main goal of the Russians in the offensive on Avdiivka (video)

The Russian troops, according to military-political observer Alexander Kovalenko, intended to cut the railway in the northern sector from Avdiivka in Donetsk region and seize the village of Tonenke, which would allow them to surround the city. By the end of the year, the Russians intend to surround and capture Avdiivka in Donetsk. This was stated by a military-political observer Alexander Kovalenko on the YouTube channel Focus.

He recalled that since October 10, the invaders' units storm the positions of Ukrainian troops in the area. First of all, they sought to complete the task for Avdiivka. Kovalenko called the appropriate goals for the plan: all these combat missions had to complete the first echelon of the invaders. It consisted of units of the First Army Corps. The reinforcement was due to the involvement of the 20th and 150th Motorized Divisions. The second echelon was to participate in the city's environment.

"None of these tasks have been completed," the expert explained. Kovalenko noted that Russia has a large number of equipment and personnel in this onset. Instead, the invaders have gained several non -critical positions. According to Kovalenko, this does not mean that the invaders will stop. The Russians relocated to the area the 21st Motorized Rifle Brigade, which testifies to the intentions to continue to carry out the offenses, similar to those who were trying to capture Bakhmut.

"They will be pressed on Avdiivka as Bakhmut," the expert said. In the Avdeevsky direction, as stated on October 24 in the evening report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian troops carried out futile assault actions with the support of aviation near Stepov, Avdiivka, Severenovka and Nevelsky Donetsk region, where six enemy attacks were reflected in general.
