Russia can release up to 140 T-90m tanks annually-analysis of Conflict Intelligence Team

To spread: under certain conditions, the Russian army can receive up to 300 new and upgraded T-90M tanks annually, which is much higher than previous estimates. At the same time, analysts point to differences with Western data on the expansion of Uralvagona. This is stated in the new analysis of Conflict Intelligence Team (CIT), which criticizes the recent publication of The Economist with production estimates at 28-30 new T-90M in 2024.

According to CIT analysis, Uralvagona's capacity allows you to produce more than 140 tanks a year, as it was in the 2000s and 2010s, even with parallel assembly of machine complexes for India. In wartime, during the 24 -hour three -shift work, the company can theoretically bring production of up to 250-300 cars per year.

Since 2022, according to analysts, the volume of production of T-90m tanks could be made: an increase in production rates caused both the growth of personnel and the transition to a three-shift regime, and the expansion of the production base: in 2023-2024, tenders were declared for the modernization of the storage facilities.

According to OSINT Resources (Warspotting), Russia has lost from 110 to 137 T-90m tanks from the beginning of the war, which indicates a high rate of their release-significantly over 30 a year. At the same time, for 2022–2024, the total losses of all types of Russian tanks amounted to about 1000 a year.

However, in 2025, according to CIT, this figure can be reduced to 480 tanks per year, since the occupation troops of the Russian Federation are more likely to use light equipment - motorcycles and civilian cars. Such a decrease in losses can allow Russia to support or even increase armored vehicles by hundreds of units annually, provided that the current rates of production and the relative stability of the front line are maintained.

Despite the pressure of the sanctions, the T-90M continues to be produced using modern sights of "pine-y", unlike other models (T-72B3M, T-80BVM), where simplified 1PN96m thermal imagers were temporarily used. At the same time, laser sensors on gun barrels disappeared from the new T-90m, which is likely to be due to the limitation of imports of the relevant components. Cit notes that the available capacities are already close to the peak on loading and wear out during continuous operation.

Further increase in production will require large -scale investments in new equipment, which in the conditions of sanction pressure may not be possible. "Meanwhile, there is an existing equipment that has been working continuously for the third year, and more and more will need replacement. We will remind, the Russian manufacturer of tanks "Uralvagonzavod" equipped the main combat tank T-90m "Breakthrough" of the latest complex of active protection "Arena-M".
