They earn as much as it happened: as the war "hit" the net profit of Ukrainian banks

According to People's Deputy Danylo Getmantsev, the net profit of Ukrainian banks in 2023, compared to 2022, increased 6. 7 times. From January to November this year, the net profit of Ukrainian banks (ie after taxes) was 130. 55 billion. At the same time in November alone, the profit of financial institutions was at the level of UAH 7. 85 billion. The chairman of the Parliament Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danilo Getmantsev reported this in his Telegram channel.

According to him, if you compare the net profit of banks with the same period last year, it increased 6. 7 times, and from 2021 (seven months) - twice. Thus, in November, the increase in profit by banks has stalled somewhat, as the deductions for reserves for possible losses increased. But even with this, compared to last year, such deductions are less than 13 times. According to the politician, banks retain high yields and remain operational.

The basis of this profitability in 2023 is a significant percentage income, derived primarily due to the risk -free investment in government securities (TEPs and deposit certificates) and moderate deductions for reserves. The profitability of the capital of the banking system (net profit to equity) for 11 months of 2023 was 52. 8% (against 9. 3% for 11 months of 2022, 32. 9%-for the same period of 2021).

It should be noted that in the list of the most profitable banks, following the results of eight months of this year, they were: at the end of November this year, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the bill No. 9656-d and introduced an additional tax on the surprise of Ukrainian banks by changing the Tax Code. Yes, banks will apply additional temporary taxation that will affect their profit. Thus, according to the results of 2023 the tax level will be 50%.
