Changing position: Hungary is not against the creation of a new EU military fund for Ukraine - the media

According to sources of journalists, the new mechanism will allow regular supplies to weapons for Kiev. A few days ago, Budapest voiced a different position. Hungary no longer opposes that a new European Union Military Fund for Ukraine is created. About it reports Bloomberg on January 25. According to sources of journalists, Budapest is going to abandon its objections to allocate help in Kiev in the amount of 5 billion euros.

This should open the way to the reorganization of the mechanism that would allow regular supply of weapons to the front. Before this, Member States will need to deal with some technical issues. Hungary also stated that they were not going to interfere with the consensus during the meeting of EU ambassadors, where an agreement on allocation of 50 billion for Kiev is still on the spot, informed sources say.

If Budapest ceases to oppose the allocation of financial assistance for Kiev, it will mean a sharp change in the position, because a few days ago the Hungarian authorities declared the opposite. Also, Prime Minister Viktor Orban continues to be pressure, it is reported in the material, because it is time to make a decision on Sweden membership in NATO, because at the beginning of the week, Turkey has already done so.

On February 1, the EU leaders will gather in Brussels, where they will try to agree again on the allocation of 50 billion euros for Ukraine or try to bypass Hungary veto, according to the message. Budapest also continues to block the last tranche from the European Peace Fund worth 500 million euros. Foreign Minister Peter Siarto has already stated that everything could change on Monday, as he would meet with Ukrainian colleague Dmitry Kuleba.
