Argued with the referee and smashed a racket: Russian tennis player broke at the US Open (video)

To spread: Russian tennis player Danilo Medvedev ( # 13 ATP) stopped fighting at the start of US OPEN-2025, giving way to the Frenchman Benjame Bonzie ( # 51 ATP) in a five-seat match. According to The Tennis Letter, Bonzi confidently won two starting networks - 6: 3, 7: 5 and led 5: 4 in the third party when he went out for the match. After a failed first feed on the court, the photographer ran out of the court, deciding that the match was over.

The referee, according to the rules, allowed the Frenchman to repeat the first inning, and this caused a sharp reaction of Medvedev. The tennis player from the aggressor country for more than six minutes argued with the referee, shouting, "Are you a man? Why are you shaking? Do you want home, isn't it?" Despite the incident, Bonzie failed to complete the match in three sets-he lost a party on a Tai Breika 6: 7, and the next set gave way to a chance-0: 6.

However, in the decisive segment, the Frenchman gathered and won 6: 4, sensationally knocking out Medvedev from the tournament. After the defeat, the Russian finally lost his self -control and broke the racket against the court. After the match, Medvedev emphasized that his annoyance was directed not at the photographer but the referee. According to him, the very fact of the appearance of the photographer on the court did not matter, but the judge's decision caused dissatisfaction.

Usually, if the noise from the stands is heard between the first and second innings, the repetition is not repeated, but this time the referee allowed you to play another first feed. The tennis player acknowledged that it helped him return to the game, but the situation looked unfair, and he only reacted emotionally. The athlete also rejected the assumption of deliberately delaying time during the Bonzie match.

He explained that at that time he considered the game actually lost, because the opponent filed for victory, and he did not have the opportunity to make a break. If the arbiter did not intervene, according to Medvedev, the Frenchman would have performed a second feed, probably won the point and finished the match. The decision of the judge caused his emotions, and he only expressed his dissatisfaction, while the audience began to make noise.

Medvedev noted that it was a strange moment, but at the same time he seemed to him even funny. He added that for a moment he even thought of completing his career in New York: "No, this is not the end of my career. But today I thought: maybe a good place to say goodbye to tennis. " Instead, Benjen Bonzie confessed that the atmosphere on the court was extremely difficult. He noted that he had never worried about anything like that, because they had to wait about five minutes before the point.

According to him, it was very difficult to play because of constant noise both during the draw and between them, and the atmosphere itself remained violent. The Frenchman stressed that he tried to keep calm and stay in the game, although it was not easy. At the same time, he added that he gave all his forces at the court, and that's what he made it possible to win.

Recall that the national team of Ukraine has received the second in the history of "gold" at the World Gymnastics Championship in group exercises. And 17-year-old Taisiya Onofriychuk took Bronze in the exercise with the ribbon-this is the first medal of Ukraine in this discipline for 10 years. Focus also wrote that football player Irina Mayborodin received a yellow card for communicating in Russian on the field.
